Finally the Great Barrage seems to be over..
Phew...finally there's seems to be a few rays of sunlight penetrating the vast darkness, after the famous "2 in 3" day combo of doing duties. Plus all sorts of nonsense chaotic work that i get to do. Good thing during my night obligations i got to talk cork with people over my trustworthy MSN, or else would have died in my camp out of "sick and tired"ness...Would like to thank the kind souls for hearing all my crap ; P.
Today went quite ok, not much in terms of extra work (but then again i too battered to do any more). Wanted to take off to get some much needed rest, but my Chief Clerk rejected my off application (#)%*)%!) saying that got important briefing by our Head at 3 pm. So again with a spirit of LL ness, waited for the briefing, until it was 3, but dun even have the slightest hint that the "Head" is coming. The weird thing is then my Commanding Officer decided to call for a meeting in conference. We all thought it's gonna be some important anouncement. One of my colleagues, still hopeful of a reversal of the NO 5 DAY WEEK FOR NSFs ORDER, still hinted enthusiatically at some writing on a flip chart, showing some possible working durations.
Anyway, it turned out to be a so-called Commander Training session (at least that's wat i think it is). The interesting thing about the army nowadays, is they actually spend time to like share with the men about those "goal setting and identification" and problem solving skills. For me, i was thinking "Tat's definitely a nice gesture, but surely as men (men who can think even) working only and for orders, surely we want something more? And it's not to say that we haven't communicated it, but it's the management system there tat needs some updating and inspiration" Well that being thought, I still paid my commander the basic respect and attention he deserves, thou wondering if things could really be improved (that session coindentally was one about identidying problems, then key success factors, then building what they call a Reinforcement Loop...you know those where you build upon success, eg. confidence problem -> do preparation, feel confident --> no problems --> more confidence -> better in doing preparation )
Plus, Commander was preaching about the wisdom of solving problems (taking remedial action), vs dissolving the issue (getting rid of the root). I am not being rude or arrogant, but i wanted to say duh! everyone knows the best way to solve the problem is to get rid of the root, the thing is how many know that only those higher up, ironically, can actually do it.
Crap, sorry guys, after writing so much, realised it's ALL ABOUT WORK! Very paiseh, but guess that's e main highlight the past few days... Oh ya..maybe the past few days, I also realise quite a lot of people getting emotional and work problems, got people break up, got love triangle thing, got assignments and the TOP favorite - Projects! So guess it had been a tough week for everyone, but the good news is, things WILL get better IF you think it will. And I think It will. So whatever problems you have, share it, dump it, magnify it, blast it. Hang in there and Good Luck!
