29 October - 1 Nov 2004

Phew. After a bad week at camp, i managed to pull off with a half day off on Friday. So hastily, i left my not-even-half-completed WITS project (this had been damn irritating), left my WONDERFUL camp (not even looking back a sec) and set off on the fastest bus to Tampines, with Yongxiang, one of my fellow like-minded buddies in camp.

We were planning to buy a present for Desmond, the new guy at my camp who's most probably going to take over as the Company Quartermaster Sergeant. But haha, in the end I ended up shopping for my personal stuff - a respectably good Digicam and clothes (plus tie...i lost mine dunno how long ago sia) to wear to Friday's night VJ 20th Anniversary Dinner and Dance (haha..in case you wondering how come i will go this type of function...go figure ba) By the way, you wouldn't know how much I spent in that phase of 4 hours after booking out from camp - just know that my bank account took quite a hammering to satisfy my "retail therapy"..

So there I was at City Hall MRT station less than 2 hours, after rushing home from Tampines and having a quick shower and rushing out to meet Guan Yu at Kallang Station. GY showed me the nice new namecards he just got, by virtue of heading a Sales Division in a newly-found company, called Global International Marketing. So when we reached Swissotel and met up with our long-lost Wushu friends, Ming Chew, Wee Seng, Jia Wen, Shi Jie, and "grand-ancestors" such as Charmaine, Johnathan from two batches before us, I saw GY look good when he was enthusiatically giving out his namecards (Great Job man!)

However, amidst of the fanfare and the remininscing of good old times and the getting together of past acquaintances, I felt a bit out of place. It's almost like I had come from another universe. Is it cos of Army? Or is it just becoz of my current way of life? In any case, it was quite worrying and unsettling, especially at the start.

On a lighter note, was surprised to see my "was-to-be" colleague and campmate, and former VJ softball captain Kenny, there also. Haha, yeah Kenny boy, smart ah, make use of VJ Gala Dinner to meet up with girl friend. Not bad. Not bad at all. Was talking to Kenny later about how different his gf is at the dinner from normal sia. You should have seen them two la. The guy was wearing a blue blazer with a v-necked shirt and the girl was wearing a nice purple dress...Easily the best couple of VJ award sia. by the way, they are one year my junior. in case you were wondering.

Haha...that night also saw Farhan, with his entourage of soccer players, whom like us also booked a table. He still looks okay, seems to be slacking with drawing higher pay and possibly respect with Singapore Police Force. Dint really succeeded in interogating him about his "hot" gf that KX and David were discussing that time but managed to drag him to find Miss Yip. Haha, she seems very pleased when she saw us sia. Was saying that she was telling Jessica to organise one table from our class, but apparently someone was slacking la (wun mention names here). GY happily gave her his new namecard and gave her a bried summary of his doings. Haha...but the most funny one has to be Farhan sia. Guess what he asked her? "Miss Yip, are you now Miss or Missus??" Yes yes of cos i know Farhan has the best interests of our CT tutor in heart but tat came off a bit teln serously. LOL

Food was okay. Got shark's fin, nice mango dessert, tonic chicken, etc. Only thing quantity not really tt satisfying for a guy who just booked out from army. Good thing that I got to drink almost 3/4 bottle of Shiraz Carbernet Red Wine. It's about 13% alc. but din feel too bad. Even though Thursday night/Friday morning, I only got 1/2 hour of sleep, haha...Feel like alcoholic champion sia. Best thing is after dinner, Kenny recommend going to Harry's @ Esplanade to have a look. Wa, it was there that I tasted the sensation of Bacardi 151 sia. Man, that must have been one of the most jialat tasting alcoholic drink i have tasted sia. Next time strongly recommend NOT to drink this, unless you are looking forward to drinking thinner and stuff (ya it had tt smell, no shit)

Basically, it's a very out of normal routine day la, this 29 of Oct. and anything there is out of camp routine, is a good routine already.

will be posting sat and sunday's stuff soon...plus so many things that happened in from Sept. so guessed you guys have to wait till i next time doing duty in camp. Take care!
