A New Year, A New Beginning
Wa another 2 weeks plus nv update liao....is time flying too fast or am I being too slow? well, at least i "am" showing signs of improvement (from one month to 2+ weeks)
26-31 Dec 2004
Wa din even know the tsunami that happened was so huge until around 28 Dec. It's amazing that here in Singapore we seemed so far, yet we are so near. On the surface, economists can say coldly how Asian economic growth would not be greatly affected, stating the fact that main industrial and commercial infrastructure in Indonesia, India and other affected regions are mostly located deeper inland and hence intact. But perhaps they are missing out the psychological damage that the daily "head count" update can do to the psychological state of the peoples, especially those who has lost someone or something. Interestingly (and encouraging )though, is that the fire of human spirit has come back even stronger after such a big splash of water. Nations, organisations, and peoples have put forth a common face of solidarity and helpfulness, mustering a counter-flood of relief supplies and monies. But still somehow i think e sad mood got somewhere deep into me, totally lost e mood for the new year. Perhaps got reminded of the fraility of human life ba...
1st Jan 2005
Spent much of the day at my cousin's house. : )
Turns out today is her brother's 4th birthday. First time that twerp so nice willing to talk and play with me. My cousin was nice and gracious as a young lady host as usual. Shiok ah go their house get to swim lots, (which is a good thing cos I always get too much food intake there too)
and got to eat nice butterscotch ice cream cake too.
Also playing around with cute yun ning too. She was allied with me in "fighting" with the birthday boy, who happens to like beating me up, that goon du...Yun ning fought off that baddie from me until she sweat like no one's business sia. So sweet. Maybe that's why the young dude has something against me. Anyway, after a few hours of non-stop battle (and heart skipping monitoring on my part...wun be to answer to my nice uncles and aunties if something happens to this two sia) , in the end all went well, they even wanted to me to carry both of them together for a "trip around the living room". Nice feeling. Felt strong. Just like what a big brother should be. LOLx.
One day after i get my camera phone (soon after I ord) i must take a picture of the pool and the house to show you all. Plus of course a pics of me and my lovable cousins. haha
3rd Jan 2004 (lolx suddenly realised this while typing...should be 2005 liao still type 2004..hopeless..)
Shiok day. Took the day off from boring army work. Mother's Birthday ma..no mood to work too. Forgot how i spent e first half of the day (probably sleeping after msn-ning too late the night before) , but remembered taking bus no. 65 down to Orchard Road to get Mum a birthday present (haha..quite special one..and quite affordable too). Mother treated Father, brother and I to some cool and cheap Jap food at Sumo House, Bedok. So happened my Aunt also there celebrating her birthday too (in case you were wondering, yes, that aunt is my mother's twin sister..haha) So coincidental. Born same moment, same place, celebrate birthday same time, same place too. My aunt was celebrating with a bunch of her colleagues, some of whom i remember (and they remember me too..haha) from last year's Shanghai trip. (time really flies....) Amongst e unfamiliar ones got one young woman too (quite pretty also...haha...for info only..)
Anyway got myself a nice Unagi eel. One of the most expensive on the menu on $8.90. Their cheapest dish was some U-dong noodles set at $2.90 sia. Quite affordable for Jap food isn't it? One of the nicest meal i had in time. The Japanese really know how to enjoy food don't they? Plus the complimentary salmon dish that the boss treated on account of my aunt's regular patronage enhanced the dining process quite a bit too. ; P
4th Jan 2005
Back to camp. But skip all the camp nonsense. Today Ji Cong organising birthday dinner treat for Hui Teng. 1st 21st Birthday celebration this year! haha...went to city to meet guanyu and others first... then rushed back to marine parade by bus 36. By the time I reached Fish and Co. the rest were already like finishing. But i realised something weird. The guys, Boon Hwa, Ji Cong, Wei Xiang and Belvin were like especially ticklish. Especially Wei Xiang. He was like giggling for no reason sia. Me absolutely clueless. However, i think i got my answer when the waitress came to ask me for the order. Turns out that, wa lao, those champions making fun of this kinda cute waitress sia. Each time she came round the table, giggles and out-bursts of funny and childish laughter can be heard...When she pass me the menu, when she took my swordfish order, when i got her again to get me this "foggie" vodka drink (supposedly one of their strongest alcoholic drink..forgot the real name liao), she kena our (or should i say their) "warm welcome". Then the ultimate "pai seh" thing for her came. Guess what? E poor gal actually passed us the wrong bill. This is really not her day sia. Dunno she will cry serving we idiots around...haha...we dam bad, i dun deny. Lolx.
Shortly before we left, think then we sorta like "realised" we were not the only ones in the restaurant (but we sure act like we were). Actually saw this girl, Kai Ting, who was in same cca with me in DHS sia. So qiao : ) At first I din realise (as blur as ever), but think wei xiang knows her, then ask me, "eh she same cca as you right?". After tat then "mao se dun kai". haha..anyway only got to exchange waves, din get to really speak with her, cos she was with 2 frens. Well, if fated enough, then surely can meet again some day. (excuses, excuses..haha)
4 - 14 Jan 2005
Cant really remember much from this dates. Spending much of this time doing duty i guess. Nothing interesting there. Except some of my MSN pals saying how come I in camp again?! haha...i dun even know myself.
Something interesting in this period, is that i hooked myself with this exciting and new telecommunications business venture, which has cool features and most importantly, great savings on outgoing local and international talk time (not that i have much use for international calls now...but i believe will have...) You guys can try click on the "call me now" button on this webpage to help me see if u get through. It's my very own website...real cool sia. u can get me from anyway in the world (without paying) and the rates are cheaper than local outgoing calls too. Any of you guys got overseas students friends or any family member that needs to call overseas often should try this service. =)
Oh ya...I think i know why i lost memory for this few days. Must be cos of toothache-induced sleep deficiency. The past few nights also got pain attacks in the middle of the night (even as I type now...in fact i am typing now exactly because of that...) The best thing is went to see SAF dentist but he say he dun see any problem wrong with my teeth. and if after two or three weeks still pain...means something serious and need to refer to hospital for tests. "We don't want to go there." A bit duh sia... Anyway, better stuff is that I left my painkillers in camp (that's where i feel the most pain anyway...psychological..not physical..but for these particular toothache attacks...physical pain is more jialat than psychological sia...) Well, best outcome is need to stay in hospital for SAF sponsored medical tests and in the end cant find any problem plus got free rest too. Haha...cant believe i become so chao keng. Like Ji Cong. haha
