Crazy Weekend (15-16 Jan 2005)
15 Jan 2005
Was supposed to meet Jicong this morning to go Singapore Expo for a Book Fair. Haha...in e end quite cork up. I calculated that we should end up meeting at 11 am, so we agree to "meet" at 10 am to give ourself some space. In the end, guess what time we wake up? Both of us woke up at around 10 40 lor. Jia lat. Then so happen cannot go straight to Expo to meet him somemore cos need to detour to Eunos to pass my Dad some invites to his Airport Police Cruise Gathering. By the time I reached Expo already 12.20 pm liao.
First thing i stepped into Hall 6 to look for Ji cong then tio stunned. All the books are uncategorised and on the floor! Wa kao. Cant they like put them in alphabetical order at least? Anyway managed to meet up with Ji cong soon after and we came out with a few names to look out for. Such as any thing with Dan Brown on it (unfortunately we found 0!), Michael Connelly (for JY...this we did managed to find a few), Jeffrey Deaver's (Ji Cong's highly recommended author) and LOTR... In the end after nearly 3 hours of frantic "scanning", I topped the purchase list by buying $108 worth of books...dun ask me what i buy...lucky my mother see already quite happy and never ask how much i spent. Anyway, within the next 3 hours, i already earn back what i spent cos i went to give my cousin tuition straight after that. : )
" The faster your money moves. The more work it will do for you." - Some investment guru. Haha...3 hours move $108 dollars. Plus investment in brain food. Not too bad for a start ba.
After tuition, then escorted my cousin back to my house cos my mother wanted him to help finish the rice. (Yes, in case you are wondering, he's my sec 3 cousin, and no i dun have any funny thing going on. Just left him to play The Sims 2 on my computer that's all.)
Had super quick dinner (<15 minutes ), then rushed out to meet Joshua for soccer at Pasir Ris. Lol, was supposed to meet him at 6am, but due to e morning's miscalculations, every one of my scheduled stuff got delayed by half and hour. In the end, I only managed to meet Josh at about 8 pm. (Dam i was supposed to watch Man U vs Liverpool..guess that's gone. Cant possibly go all the way to Meridien JC and go back to Eunos without accomplishing something right?)
Anyway, seemed like I was not the latest. His friends Derrick and Wei Jie, was already there. But Joshua's two female classmates, Ai Yin and Geok, plus this guy called Phillip, came bout 20 minutes later. (yea..man u match's completely screwed...i was thinking..soccer better be good man..) So we started playing soccer, (yeah with the gals : P) ai yin, with me and josh on a team and geok, with derrick and wei jie on the other. Haha...dam funny experience playing with gers. But guess what. My team won, with Ai Yin scoring two goals. Top scorer nia..power boh?
However, good times were not to last. Not longer than 20 minutes of "interesting" play, a group of Malays and Indians (who looks dam pro in soccer) challenged us to playing "League of 3 teams." I was like thinking "Siao liao la, i wanna play with e girls in. More relac and easy lei..." Anyway, Derrick sorta like agreed, and we din have too much of an objection either. Plus the girls jumped at the chance and retreated to their "traditional role" of being supporters at e side of the court. Haiz..So there we were, faced with a technically and tactically more superior team. But, fate has it that, horrors of horrors to them, we (actually I..but humble a bit...cos actually received a good cross from Joshua) actually scored first and kicked out the first team. Haha...they din really expect tat coming dint they? Well, I do have a long history of soccer playing and my leg is something that some people fear a lot. So ya they better show some respect. haha.
Anyway, we played a few more matches with e two teams and had a great time running around and playing the game. In fact, it was one of the more enjoyable soccer games i have played since joining the army. And the best thing is I din even feel real tired after that. Still can walk until Elias Mall, but only to find macdonald's closed at 10.02 pm and e staff can even announce in unison that they were closed. Good service sia. In the end, tried to settle for Ba Chor Mee at a nearby coffeeshop, but tat one only left "ba chor", no noodles liao. Like what the )!#$%? sia. No choice had to settle for Black Pepper Beef rice. Good thing, the "no choice" wasn't such a bad choice in the end =P
16 Jan 2005. Sunday.
Cant really remember if I had toothache the previous night. But heck. not important. (I do remember that a severe lack of sleep does have a temporarily amneisic side-effect though..should be suffering from tat haha..)
The better part of today was utilised by tuition. Then went off to meet YX and friends at the National Stadium. Yeah. You're right. South East Asian Tiger Cup Finals 2nd Leg. You should have checked out the number of people there sia. It was a sea of Red! and the queue to get thru the barricade was super long sia. Anyway, the match was nice. Long time nv see the SG team working so hard and passionately. Should do tat more often. Realised also got exceptionally large no. of people bringing their girlfriends there. Only me and my friends made up of 7 guys. Haha..Whom after e match wanted to go geylang to eat (in e end is ask for "price"...haha...those who knows will know) Wa had e most expensive prawn noodles that night sia. $5 for normal prawns and $15 for biigg ones.
Jialat. By e time reach home already 12 midnight liao. Lucky ql and wt are up online. Had a good chat till around 4.30 am sia. (contents though ; P)
