Temporal Irregularities

(!!!) Okay guys sorry for no having faithfully updated my blog. Actually came out with a long explanation and introduction for this post just now, but it was screwed. Wrote quite a lot of stuff and, being kiasu, tried to copy the stuff i wrote in case something happened and e text gets erased but apparently, i pressed a "arrow" button after i have selected my entire text and voila! whole thing got irreversibly warped into cyberspace. Sianz... However, think maybe tat's good also. Will be coming straight to the point now.

First and foremost, again sorry for not being able to update my blog. Din have e mood to really do it cos of my toothache (u guys can guess how long it has been going on), which has been taking away valuable time and attention from me. In fact, it's accompanying me with each letter i type now. However, typing seems to distract my mind from the pain. Yeah. The "pain will go away if you dun think about it" method. Seems to be working so far. :D

Anyway would like to take the chance to thank everyone who has shown concern regarding this. People in camp like my colleagues, people like my "sun nus", who have sorta helped and shown care for me in some way or another, and especially my mother (whom i always manage to wake due to my "night combat" with my toothache..dun worry she's playing mahjong at my uncle's house. Staying awake for the right reasons. haha.) Ok have to stop. Grammy's on at 11pm @ Channel 5. So no long valedictory speech today. haha.

Well, my post is titled "Temporal Irregularities" cos I suspect the toothache and the resulting "insomnia" is screwing my "sense of time". Meaning i dun really feel for and care about the passage of time nowadays. In fact the only dates i feel something for now is 21 Feb and 5 May. 21 Feb is actually the day of the start of my root canal treatment at the Military Medicine Institute. Finally will get to see a specialist. After 3 dental appointments that only managed to turn out painkillers (which incidentally and regrettably dun really work for me nowadays). Haha. But at least it's just one more week to tahan. So for the nice people mentioned above...dun worry..just need to wish me luck : D (As for 5 May, well it isn't really cos it's boon's birthday. Not entirely anyway. haha. just fyi.)

(Author's side note: You could help by calling me from 2 to 6 am...if you are not asleep yet. Talking to people helped a bit the last time my campmate called me to chat when i was doing duty. Chances will be i will be awake so dun worry about disturbing me. Only if u cant sleep too. Treasure your sleep time while you have it. It's a God-given privilege! As with all privileges, don't wait till you lose it den you value it. Just some sagely advice...haha...talking cork...another possible side effect of "insomnia"? )

Anyway, I am writing this post now because (aside from that nagging guilt of non-updatance) I received what I believed to be divine inspiration from the blogs of 3 of my friends - Ji Cong, Jingyang and Kenvia. Could really "feel" my secondary school from the posts and pictures. Truly nostalgic and reminiscent. So much so that there's a pang of regret still residing inside of me, cos I wasn't able to make it that day when they went. Dam the duties. Anyway, need to thank the 3 of them for a "blog well updated" with regards to that event. Was wondering if whether my "Teach"es will remember me if I have went back. They sure did remember Ji Cong. For his notoriety at least. At least that's what he claims. Haha. and Nice that they devoted a part of CNY to their "mother school" too. Really miss e stuff over there. Teachers, soccer, basketball...nice memories from my sec school life (come to think of it, almost my entire sec sch life revolves around this 3 components. and i am not complaining too. haha)

CNY was ok for me. Though i have the "sense of time" (sigh...the long weekend holiday coming to an end) and "insomnia", there were still happy moments, as always in life too isn't it? - there simply cannot be only bad stuff happening. Haha. Well the most memorable thing was my encounters with young children during this period. It's like suddenly i became the best friend of everyone below the age of 10 sia. Especially for my cousins, Yun Ning, Yun Xin and Si ying. I only remember visiting their homes a few times during CNY, playing the whole evening with them on Chu Yi, then next thing is everybody want to play with me and stuff. Yun Ning was especially passionate, hugging me and telling me to carry her. I cant forget cute Yun Xin when she smiles too. sweet and cute little things sia. So much so that i automatically became the de facto babysitter whichever house i went. Was practically spending most of my "visiting hours" taking care of them and playing with them sia. Dunno when I become so popular amongst those young brats sia. Well, at least tat meant taking my mind away from toothaches and gambling. (i resolved to stay as far away from gambling as possible after losing 60 bucks to my dad for mahjong during CNY eve), so I am cool with it. In fact, was almost flattered by all the attention and stuff. It's tiring, but the feeling's interesting.

Weirder still, even young children i have never seen before in my life suddenly became interested in me. Take for example Jermaine. Jermaine is my campmate, Ryan's niece, whom i met for my first time when i went to the hosue of Ryan's brother together with some of my camp pals. I was sitting in the house, watching my friend play mahjong (yeah not playing cos of my earlier resolution, my recent track record of poor luck, and my wish to be able to go home early cos of duty the next day..lots of excuses haha). Then out of sudden, i dun remember when or how, Jermaine and I got talking. She showed me her many different toys and stuff, most of which she keeps in a special bucket. I dunno how i pulled that off, but she was talking incessantly about stuff. Not that her parents, who are both gambling minded. Haha. Cant really remember what we talked about but the most memorable part was when i managed to persuade her to get a shower, while her mother had ordered her, with failure, to do so 3 times. The feeling of being able to influence felt strangely good. How is it that i am able to win over the friendship and influence of all this young people? Could it have been the unwitting application, on my part, of the Dale Carnegie principles of people relationship management that I read about? Truly amazing nevertheless. Haha. If only girls above 10 years of age like me so much. HAHA...tat's what i told my a few relatives when they commented that the children "stick" to me so well. Well, maybe who knows one of my cousins will grow up liking me. It will be a minimum 10 year investment (and wait) though before they grow up. LOL.

Well, cant remember much what other stuff happened liao. Maybe cos having a slight headache now. I will go and catch some sleep now before heading back out to camp again later.

Till then, take care.
